Some pictures from when my boyfriend and I went to Miami. Key biscayne abandoned water park to be more exact. this place is COVERED in grafitti from corner to corner- it's insane! So we brought the camera along as well as a couple cans. This place is covered in grime, dripping from the rain the night before and falling apart. It's perfect!

Morikami pictures from about a month ago. What a peaceful place to be...serenity gardens, waterfalls, traditional Japanese houses and amazing food. Went vegetarian about 2 months ago and it is not hard at all. Meat is something I dont miss but I still eat fish so i guess I'm a pescatarian?..

Here are some pics of my new Nine West belt. I saw this at a vintage shop and it reminded me of the vintage Moschino belt i've been drooling over. Forgive the cell phone pics but I forgot to bring my camera that day. The belt is much brighter in person!

A night to remember

Last night was soo much fun! Arctic Monkeys were in town and a couple of friends and I went to Miami Beach to watch them perform live. Needless to say, the show was amazing! A girl crowd surfing landed on my head and knocked me to the ground. It didn't really hurt I'm not sure why. At the time it seemed more funny than anything lol. So after the show which was amazing,(did i mention it was amazing? :)) my friend and I went and waited by the gate where we met 1/2 of arctic monkeys. Hands down an unforgetable nighttt

Spring Break 2010

Organizing shoes, DIY experimenting with beads, chains and broken bits and pieces, Museums, Grafitti, Banksy, Blek le Rat, Alice in wonderland in 3D, playing around in the museum gift shop, abandoned mansions, Steak N' Shake at midnight, weird clubs and crazy late night drives. All in a weeks time. Went to the beach once during this whole week. The amount of spring breakers that were in the FL beaches reached obnoxious levels. Here's some pics enjoy!

I was not expecting to see an original Banksy here! Its so weird to see this in a museum.

It's crazy the things you can do with a cell phone camera. Took this pic last week when I was extremely bored haha. So super excited for April 1rst because Arctic Monkeys are coming to town! Maybe Alexa Chung will be around? :) hahaha. Seriously, her Acne Atacoma wedges are pretty amazing but definitely second to the Balenciaga Harness Boots. So, taking a break from biochem right nowww. I am looking into getting the tripod sometime this week. Because seriously in all honesty, cell phone pics are the lowest common denominator when it comes to picture quality. So I will dust off my camera from the black hole that is my closet and I will start posting better pictures. Until then comment with a link to your blog ;)

Hey everyone! Here's a picture my friend took of me a while back at school. haha don't worry I put the glasses on only for the picture. I wasn't feeling the hispter non-prescription glasses look that day. So a quick update of everything that's been going on:

Unfortunately I did not get a high enough MCAT score to continue my med school applications.. so I am taking a year off from school and reapplying later this year.

Currently doing Malaria research on Equine red blood cells and taking a full load at school with biochem, cell molec and physics classes. (btw I HATE PHYSICS)

Working as a student Ambassador at my university giving tour of the amazing campus we have. Seriously, I didnt really appreciate what an amazing campus we have until I started giving tours. What other school has a shark tank in the middle of the cafeteria, the largest library in the state of FL, and a museum gallery containing Salvador Dali paintings?? crazzy stuff... well tuition isn't really cheap considering that without any financial aid tuition per semester comes out to about $11,000 :S (I pay nowhere near that btw!!)

Here's a necklace I made this week out of broken chains and bracelets. I can't believe it only took me thirty minutes to make! It looks heavy but it surprinsingly doesn't weigh that much! Made with earrings, brooches, bracelets, necklaces and pearls. Hope you like it!

Helloo everyone! Today was a really chilly day here in Florida so I decided to wear these opaque Leather leggings with a sparkly golden cardigan which makes me just a little bit happier when I wear it. I found this mineral washed shirt at a clearance bin not too long ago and decided that this metal chain belt would go perfect with it if worn as a necklace. I'm actually quite in love with these shoes. They're a bit big on me but they are extremely comfortable. Hope you guys had an amazing weekend! Tomorrow is my 2 year anniversary and my boyfriend told me that I should meet him with my passport at 5:30 am tomorrow. I have NO idea where he could possibly be taking me. ah soo excited!

Starting off the Year Right

The new year is finally here! 2010 is finally here! I can't believe another year is already gone. I have a lot to be thankful for this year even though it had a rough start. Sometimes it's hard to see the silver lining but I thank this year for being so hard on me because it has made me stronger as a person. So a lot of things to look forward to this year!:

Graduating with a Bachelors in Science in May a year early :)
Applying to Med Schools (and hopefully getting in!)
Possibly Moving depending on if and where I get into Med School
and as always looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends. Building new friendships and strengthening old ones.

So here's my new years resolution:

To always be happy no matter the circumstance

Hellooo everyonee. I'm really glad I'm on break again! Today I'm wearing two of my very own DIY pieces. The first one is this awesome necklace I made last week and the second is this purse that I studded last year. I actually also changed the straps on the purse for these chains that I bought at Michaels and i braided it with some leather i had leftover from the original straps. I always get so much satisfaction from doing DIY projects. It really is a great way to renew old clothes and keep entertained for a couple hours (or a couple days in the case of the purse) Worn with an Alexander Wang-esque gray tank top, leather pencil skirt and leather ankle foldover boots.

Now that school is out, there's definitely more time for DIYs and projects I've been thinking about all semester. I was cleaning up my closet when I found bags of buttons and broken bracelets. I knew I was saving them for a reason!. So After an spending an hour each with some cement in my hand and "Funny Face" on tv, I turned all these little bits and pieces into these amazing necklaces. I'm really pleased with how they turned out (the black one is not finished yet) especially since I didnt spend anything on them :) hehehehe

yes! yes! yes! yes!!!!!! The Sam Edelman "Zoe" boot aka the look-alike balenciaga harness boots are coming!!!!!!!!!!!! It's 2 am and I am sooo excited! cannot wait to have these babies on my feet!! I just got an e-mail saying they will be available begining of august. SOOOOO excited! I'm wondering how much they will be? Also I went missing for 10 days in peru :) so that explains the lack of posts. I will update you guys more pretty soon. Too excited to type fast enough lololol.

I just realized august starts pretty soon! where's summer gone to?? I can't believe its almost over.

The famous graphic designer known for his typography work as well as intricate designs. The poster is really self-explanatory. Simple and to the point. First off, I want to apologize for the lack of posts. I have been feeling a little sick and have been super busy so I haven’t had the time to take pictures of even turn on my computer lol. So this is the second post of my paintings series. This particular one took me about 4 hours and its acrylic on canvas. So lots of things going on:

*Getting ready for my trip to Peru in 2 weeks

Went to a vintage boutique and found a truly great dress which i will snap soon. Just to give you an idea of what it looks like just think sequins, mesh and fringe :). I need to get it altered because its a bit long on me so once that’s done I will start wearing it.

Florida is hot as usual with lots of rain lately so my outfits have consisted of lots of body con skirts, acid washed shirts, shorts, and lots and lots of jewelry. On slightly cooler days (ie 90 degrees) i’ve been wearing a pair of DIY Studded ankle boots which i purchases a couple years ago. pics up soon!

Snakes and Cages

My luck, I woke up late for work today leaving me with only 10 minutes to get ready. So this is what I came up with while I was tripping over stuff. As usual, Florida weather is above 90 degrees today so that really limits what i can wear. I have a love/hate relationship with Florida really. I love the fact that the beach is 20 minutes away and it feels like i’m on vacation 365 days a year but the heat really gets to me sometimes. I’ve always wondered if i could fry an egg on the roof of my car… This is something i need to try lol. I did some vintage shopping today after work and came across some pretty great finds. (I’ll post about them later) In other news, we’re getting a brand new radio booth at work :) and i’m very excited!!! I’ll post pictures once we move into the new stationnn. This is what I wore today :)

106 degree weather outfit

wow Florida has some crazy weather. Just earlier today the temperature meter in my car read 106 degrees and now a couple hours later there’s rain and lightning. This is what I wore while I managed not to melt and stick on the ground. Good news today! the radio station where I was was voted South Florida’s best college radio station :). So excited!

Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo?

So today since I have a cold and a very stuffy nose, I decided to stay in bed and watch the Tribeca Film festival on the Sundance channel. As I was flipping through the channels I came across Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo? (who are you, Polly Magoo?) a film from 1966 which portrays a satirical view of fashion and fashion houses. It is so ridiculous and funny at the same time I couldn't resist to do a post about it. Dorothy McGowan plays Polly, a 20-year-old Brooklyn-born fashion model in Paris who is followed by a camera crew to go behind the scenes of the fashion industry. I googled the movie title for these images, and I have to say the imagery and essence of this film is superb. Throughout the film I found myself wanting to pause the movie and snap a picture of the screen. I would hang every single movie still on my wall if i could. Here's hoping that you guys see this movie!! I'll post a clip from it below.

Caged at the Knees

Dans Paris is such a great movie. I just finished watching it on the sundance channel...sooo good. It's about a man heartbroken by the end of his affair with a woman. Filled with metaphors,flashbacks, sound bites...amazing.Its similar to The Science Of Sleep which is, by the way, my all time favourite movie :). Heres today's outfit:

Hi everyone! sorry i haven't posted in so long! I just got back from my trip to michigan for my boyfriend's sister's graduation party. I got in yesterday at around 5 pm and then I had to go to work from 9 to 11pm at the radio station where I work so i was pretty tired to do a post. I had so much fun. This is how my trip went:

Arrived at the Airport at 6 am to leave to Orlando and then catch a connection flight to Detroit
Got to Orlando,found out theres not connection flights to detroit lol
Left for St. Louis and then to Detroit.
Arrived at Detroit at around 5 pm (geeze)
Had dinner met a lot of my boyfriend's family and had lamb for the first time (I didnt know it was lamb...i felt so bad)
Went to a safari to feed animals
Ran up hills :)
Collected flowers
Ran in the Rain
Got sick :(
Went to Cedar Point which is by the way sooo muchh funnn
Went to Ohio
Had the greasiest patty melt sandwhich I've ever seen at this place called Tony's. They're known for having sevings that could feed 5 people. I was so grossed out by the way people were eating! One girl was eating a ONE GALLON FUDGE SUNDAE all by herself and there were buckets of bacon all over with humongous burgers. I've never seen a person eat so much!
All in all I had a great time and lots of fun :)

Tom Binns DIY safety pins and pearl necklace

This weekend was spent catching up with family,shopping,Diy-ing, more shopping, going to see "Up" (which is by the way the cutest movie I have ever seen), going to the Ale house to watch a basketball game,dressing up and saying goodbyes. So, as promised, here's the DIY for the Tom Binns necklace in the picture below. 150 safety pins and 36grams of pearls later, here is the finished product. (btw the bag said grams instead of units. dont know why?..) anyway, I never realized how hard it is to create randomness in a piece. This necklace took me a surprisingly short amount of time considering all the work that had to be done. I'm thinking that for the next DIY, i could create one with black pearls? or two tone? or different color pearls. I had lots of fun making this necklace :).

Here's the picture I used as inspiration for the necklace. I couldnt find it online so i had to photograph it since my scanner is acting up.

and here's my version. It's slightly thicker than the original necklace but I think I like it better this way.

It's no secret that i'm obsessed with the FW 06 Balenciaga Harness boots and that I can't wait to get my hands on a pair. But being that they're sold out EVERYWHERE and I have the budget of a college student, I don't think I'll ever own them. So, when i heard about the Sam Edelman Knock offs going for about $100 instead of $1600 I was sooo excited. However, they're sold out all over :(. I was reading a couple forums online about people who own a pair of harness boots but have never worn them out. I was like "what?! why wouldn't you wear them out?!!!" Seriously, why spend so much money on something thats gonna sit in your closet. How about passing it on! lol. Anyway, I sent an e-mail through the Sam Edelman website a couple weeks ago and I got this response today:

"Hello,Thank you for your interest in Sam Edelman. That style is being broughtback for Fall 09. At LF Stores.We will send an email of notification once they have shipped."

Stuck in Time

Hi everyone! This is an image feed of images i found interesting while doing some research for the post below this one. It's all images of dancers because i was trying to find a good picture for some of my collages. Anyway, these are some I found interesting and that caught my eye (especially the third one) You know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words? well the great thing about these pictures is how they tell a story yet, they feel so silent to me. Something about the fact that they're in black and white feels like they're stuck in time.

above is a picture of me from a couple months back. Here I'm wearing my favourite pair of knee-high gladiators SS 06 (which i've worn way too much since I got them a year ago). Since this picture was taken, the sandals have been neatly put back in their box to give them some rest...until i decide to wear them again :). Back to my point... lol you can notice the similarity from the Hawaiian dancer to my picture haha.

ps: I actually think I wore this outfit to go see Ratatat perform.

Nebulas and Dancers

Hi Again. This is another image feed from another one of my projects. In this instance, we had to do a brochure but i utilized the same collage technique. I really like the third image of the girl playing the tuba. I feel like these images really speak to me and the second time around proved to be much easier since i started using online images also. I think everyone can agree that finding a specific image online is much easier than searching for it in piles and piles of old magazines. I feel like doing more of these and it's summer aka no school aka loads of free time ;). Hope you guys enjoy this second feed! let me know what you think!

Image Feed: Cutouts

These are some projects I did for my graphic design class at school.

The last two are not mine. I got them form the web :).I'm not sure about the source

Hope you guys like them! These were all done using good-old fashioned magazine cutouts and glue. Took me soo long to find all the pictures I wanted to use but it was definetly worth it. It was done for a cd project so I was going for a Beck "The information" feel but using cutouts instead of stickers. I also added an envelope to one of the back panels and it was full of more cutouts so that people could make their own collages. So let me know what you think!
